Traditionally the NYSNA outgoing presidents give gifts to his or her executive board thanking them for the service on the board. This year outgoing President, Artie Frego announced at the NYSNA Annual Conference in Poughkeepsie, NY that he made a donation to The Food Bank of the Southern Tier in lieu of gifts. President Frego stated that the donation will help those in the Southern Tier affected by the flooding. Many of the NYSNA members are from the Southern Tier, where a major flood occurred the day after schools opened. Thousands of houses, businesses, and two schools were destroyed.
