Countdown to SNA's Annual Election!

Remember NYSNA Members Mark Bordeau and Debbi Beauvais, RDN, SNS Are Running!

It's almost time to head to the polls to decide who will represent you on the Association's Board of Directors and Leadership Development Committee (formerly the Nominating Committee). If the SNA Election seems quite a bit later this year, that's because it is! The 2016 election reflects the outcome of governance changes approved by the SNA House of Delegates last July at the 2015 Annual National Conference (ANC), and a transition process to fully implement changes to the SNA Board and its committees was required. The initial slate for the Association's 2016 election was announced at ANC, but the transition process began with a Call for Nominations for several new positions announced in August. Nominations closed in late September, and a final slate was determined by the Leadership Development Committee during Fall Committee Days in October. Also, in order to reduce the amount of time between the election and installation of new Board members, it was determined that the SNA election now will take place annually in February.

This year's election features 21 candidates whose SNA volunteer experience, leadership talent and passion for child nutrition have earned them a place on the ballot. The members serving on SNA's Board of Directors are your voice, representing your professional interests and concerns. The efforts of the Leadership Development Committee are essential, as well. Members of this group work hard to identify and recruit volunteers with the expertise and enthusiasm to step up to leadership positions. Each and every SNA member's vote counts in selecting those who will step up to the task.

Voting will be conducted through SNA's website for two weeks only, from February 15 to 29. For details about how to vote, as well as biographies of all the candidates, log on to www.schoolnutrition.org/SNAElection.
